SEO Link Quality Versus Quantity

Posted on: April 27, 2010 by Comments Off

I’ll talk about three approaches with respect to SEO (Search Engine Optimization) hyperlink (link) quality versus link quantity. These approaches apply to on-site and off-site link building.

  1. The more links of any kind, the better.
  2. The more high quality links, the better.
  3. Only high quality links are useful.

I’ve got more than a decade of SEO experience with hundreds of large Websites. In my assessment, SEO link building attention is more valuable to concentrate on link quality.

Here is my rationale:

  1. Low quality Websites bring more low quality visitors.
  2. Search engines prioritize high quality links so that content served to visitors is trusted and relevant.
  3. I’ve conducted voluminous tests and observed results favoring SEO results derived from link quality.
  4. My favorite trustworthy resources share this viewpoint.

Endless SEO Link Building

Endless SEO (Search Engine Optimization) hyperlink (link) building is not necessary to drive online results. Occasionally, a company will hire an intern to concentrate full time building inbound links to their Website. This may include regular Website links, blog comments, forum posts, and social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) entries.

Without meticulous keyword, content, and link selection strategy, any online results are usually temporary. Incessant random link submissions are viewed as noise and vague low quality activity by search engines.
